@The Author’s Writer, Revised, October 9. 2024
“Behind Every Great Author is a Great Writer.”
How can this be?
Isn’t an author also a writer?
Yes. No. Sometimes.
An author, first and foremost, is whose name is on the cover. An author is a storyteller.
A writer is an inventor. A writer discovers, creates, and recreates the story in a myriad of ways.
Now an author may enlist the help of a writer.
An author is a storyteller.
In the form of a ghostwriter, an editor, or even a mentor, coach, or teacher.
A ghostwriter fulfills many capacities. They know how to ask questions, discover the message, then turn it into a story that resonates with readers.
An editor sees the gaps, inconsistencies, and unanswered questions in a story.
A book coach or mentor guides authors in such a way that they realize their own epiphany moment and arrive at their own conclusions.
A writer is an inventor.
What does it mean to be a great writer?
A great writer knows how to balance the conventional with the unconventional. They know the rules so that they can break them.
A great writer writes believable stories so that readers can make-believe.
A great writer’s hope makes a reader dream.
A great writer writes from the heart to reach other hearts.
A great writer makes an author look great. Together, a great author and a great writer are an unstoppable writing team.
